Citizens Collaborate to Envision Oregon

Today, 1000 Friends of Oregon announced a statewide citizen-driven effort to envision and build a better Oregon. The campaign begins with the launch of an online forum at www.EnvisionOregon.org today and town hall forum in Corvallis on Saturday, April 29. Both venues will encourage dialogue among Oregonians about our values and vision for a future that will include 2 million new Oregonians in 35 years.

The Envision Oregon forums will enable citizens to share their hopes for Oregon with the state’s “Big Look” task force, which is leading a review of Oregon land use planning. Already, the EnvisionOregon.org website hosts guest columns from a range of writers including economist Joseph Cortright and The Nature Conservancy Oregon Director Russell Hoeflich. The site also includes “Oregon Stories” from a range of citizens, which can be submitted for publication online.

The free town hall forum in Corvallis will include participatory workshops and presentations by Jack McGowan, Jefferson Smith, and Bob Stacey. The event is sponsored by 1000 Friends of Oregon, SOLV, Bus Project, Oregon Business Association, League of Women Voters of Oregon, and Coalition for a Livable Future.
