Problems with Downloads? From time to time, people have a problem downloading a PDF document from our website. We've looked into it, tried many different things, but haven't figured out how to solve the problem on our end. There are two different solutions, however, if you're looking for a document: 1. Instead of single-clicking on the PDF, right-click on it, and select "Save Target as" or "Save as" and save the file to your desktop. Open it from there. 2. Ask us to e-mail it to you. Send an e-mail to info@friends.org with the name of the document and we'll get you a copy. Your Settings As to fixing this in the future, look at configuring Acrobat Reader differently. If you are running Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher, you can disable the "Integration with IE" feature (this can also be disabled in Acrobat Reader 4.x, but the setting is accessed differently) This forces Acrobat to open, but not within IE, which is the source of the "download problem". To disable the IE integration: Run Adobe Acrobat Reader (the short cut should be located under the Start menu). From within Reader, select the Edit menu selection, then select the Preferences item. From Preferences, select the Options item in the left hand frame. Under the Web Browser Options, deselect the "Display PDF in Browser" selection. Click OK and exit Acrobat. When you select a PDF document on a Web page, you might be prompted with the "File download" window. If so, you can select open, and the PDF will open without any problems in the Acrobat Reader application outside of IE. More information about PDFs, Browsers, and Windows difficulties.
